The Soni Scholarship has one simple aim - to empower children with access to education.
Please read below about our Patron in Honour and Trustees. Our Patron in Honour sets the precedent in how we can positively impact the lives of others. His teachings have motivated and inspired the trustees to create a fund that allows all individuals who donate to become part of a child's journey going forward
Patron in Honour
Surinder Kumar Soni was born in Punjab, India, on 31st January 1940. He spent the majority of his working career in the Punjab National Bank. In 1997, Surinder launched the Om Prakash Soni Charitable Hospital alongside his brother, Ashok Kumar Soni. The hospital has one simple purpose - to help all individuals within their reach to have access to medical treatments. Following his retirement in 2000, Surinder devoted all his time to managing the day to day operations of the Om Prakash Soni Charitable Hospital. He was responsible for serving approximately 200 individuals a day.
Surinder passed away on 4th April 2019 aged 79. He leaves behind an incredible legacy of inspiration and selflessness. By appointing Surinder as a Patron of the Soni Scholarship, his teachings and values will continue to positively impact the lives of children of all backgrounds.
In his own words, ‘there is nothing more beautiful than believing in yourself’. The aim of this scholarship is to empower children to have that belief.

The Trustees

Aman Soni
Aman Soni is a Sales Associate at JPMorgan Chase & Co. working within the Sales and Relationship Management team for UK Asset Owners. Within his role, Aman also chairs Recruitment across EMEA for the Markets Analyst and Associate Committee. This role also includes a philanthropic and mobility agenda for Analysts and Associates at the firm. Graduating from the University of Nottingham in 2015, where he achieved a First Class with Honours BSc in Economics, he is well-known to be a dedicated and hard-worker. Being a co-founder of the Soni Scholarship, he is devoted to create a fund where all donors become part of the recipients journey.

Vinay Soni
Vinay Soni, P.Eng, CRSp, has been working in the automotive industry in Canada for 15 years providing environmental/health and safety consulting. He jumpstarted his career by working in operations management for 12 years at a large fertilizer manufacturing company in India. He co-founded this charity with the vision of implementing his father’s incredible legacy by helping educate the next generation of underprivileged children in his hometown - Jagraon, India.

Ajay Soni
Ajay Soni works as a Director at Bank of America Merrill Lynch in a career spanning over 22 years. He leads technology for Sales, Research and Capital Markets. More recently Ajay has been appointed to lead the banks technology agenda for the Paris office. Born and raised in Jagraon, India, Ajay recognises and values the challenges facing many. With a reputation of always putting others before himself, he aims for the Soni Scholarship to empower children with access to education in order to reach their dreams and aspirations.

Neena Soni
Neena Soni has a career at British Airways spanning over 25 years. She has held multiple roles within the airline ranging from customer service to project management. Neena currently manages a team to support the Global Learning Academy. In her capacity as a trustee, Neena is passionate about empowering young individuals with education. Her meticulous approach to projects aligned with her strong leadership skills best place her to guide the Soni Scholarship going forward.

Ishan Soni
Ishan Soni works in product at Capital One. He has a passion for technology and will help to lead the digital agenda for the Soni Scholarship. He co-founded this charity because he saw the impact that his grandfather had on the underprivileged through his charitable ventures, and knows that the Soni Scholarship will enable him to continue his grandfathers mission of making the world a better place.

Sahil Soni
Sahil Soni is an undergraduate student at the University of Nottingham studying Medicine. From a young age he has had an altruistic nature with a clear desire and passion to help others. Through both his medical career, and his role as a trustee to the Soni Scholarship, he will have the opportunity to impact as wide an audience as possible.

Sanju Soni
Sanju Soni is an educator who strives to help her students acquire knowledge and competence. She works as an elementary school teacher in Canada. Sanju believes that education plays a vital role in a child’s life and that many children have a dream to get higher education to accomplish their goals but are deprived of getting it due to a lack of funds. As a trustee of the Soni Scholarship charity, her goal is to promote higher education by helping fulfill the charity’s goals while also honouring the incredible legacy left by her father-in-law.
